The Hazardous Materials Specific/Limited Task Worker is now a recognized level for which the State of California provides a certified training program. Workers on sites only occasionally for a specific limited task such as ground water monitoring, land surveying, or geo-physical surveying, or who are unlikely to be exposed to PEL's are required to have this OSHA 29CFR1910 HAZMAT training.

HM General Site Worker (40 Hour HAZWOPER)
The Hazardous Materials General Site Worker is now a recognized competency level for which the State of California provides a certified training program. General site workers (such as equipment operators, general laborers, and supervisory personnel) engaged in hazardous substance removal or other activities which expose or potentially expose workers to hazardous substances and health hazards are required to have this 29CFR1910 HAZMAT training.

On-site management and supervisors directly responsible for, or who supervise employees engaged in, hazardous waste operations shall have at least 8 hours of specialized hazardous waste operations management training, in addition to the 24 or 40 hour 29CFR1910 .120 HAZWOPER course.

HM FRA-First Responder Awareness (4 to 8 Hours)
HAZMAT First Responders at the awareness level (FRA) are individuals who are likely to witness or discover a hazardous substance release and who have been trained to initiate an emergency response sequence by notifying the proper authorities of the release-they would take no further action beyond notifying the authorities.

A HAZMAT First Responder at the Operations level (FRO) responds to Hazardous Materials Incidents in a defensive fashion within existing resources and capabilities to contain the release from a safe distance, to keep it from spreading and to prevent exposures to nearby persons, property or the environment.

HM FRO-NBC (Nuclear Biological Chemical) (8 Hours)
Could you recognize a Sarin release? This course trains HAZMAT First Responders to recognize Nuclear, Biological and Chemical agents, evaluate their potential effects, and select tactics to protect themselves and the public. Class participants will use case studies, class activities, and tabletop exercises to learn the types of agents in use, evaluate their hazards, select protective actions, and determine potential sources of assistance in an incident involving weapons of mass destruction.

Prerequisite: FRO course*
This course focuses on training HAZMAT emergency responders to perform decontamination operations at a HAZMAT incident. The competencies we teach through classroom and hands-on training, in the procedures and personal protective equipment needed will provide you with the skills to participate as a decontamination team member for your agency or company. This one-day course is a cost-effective solution to providing adequate numbers of HAZMAT Decon-Team personnel.

HAZMAT 29CFR1910 .120(q)(6)(iii):
Hazardous Materials Technician-Industry (24 or 40 Hour)
Prerequisite: FRO course for CSTI CERT**
This 29CFR1910 course is designed primarily for Private Industry HAZMAT Teams who respond mostly to known chemicals. It teaches the required skills and knowledge to effectively respond to Hazardous Materials Incidents within the Responder's Facility. Students learn proper use procedures for dealing with field survey instruments and equipment, specialized PPE, and techniques for advanced control, containment and/or confinement operation. They also gain experience in rescuing injured or contaminated persons (within resource capabilities and available PPE).

This 29CFR1910 course is for individuals who assume control of an emergency response to a HAZMAT incident. Through practical exercises, group activities and lectures, you will be trained in incident command, management and HAZMAT response fundamentals emphasizing responder safety, unified command and thorough hazard assessment.

HM IC-NBC (Nuclear Biological Chemical) (8 Hours)
This course will address issues to safely and competently manage a HAZMAT incident involving nuclear, biological, and chemical agents. Issues discussed include recognition, agency coordination, and command and problem solving. A tabletop exercise ties course concepts together in a hands-on application.
