There are a few ways to receive the 40 Hour HAZWOPER Training. Students should decide from below which option may work best.
1. In some cases, the 40 Hour HAZWOPER course can be taken entirely Online. Please note that this option is not for everyone.
It DOES NOT allow students the practical experience and ability to handle the tools and equipment that is available to the HAZWOPER worker.
CAUTION - The only people that should take this course entirely online are those workers that while requiring a 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification, will NOT realistically use any of this equipment on any work site.
If there is any chance that a worker who has taken the 40-Hour HAZWOPER course entirely online may be required to use any of the equipment discussed during their training, more training may be warranted.
2. You can break up the 40 Hour HAZWOPER course into 32 hours of online training and 8 hours of classroom training:
In the classroom setting, students receive hands-on experience during the final eight hours of the 40 hour course. OSHA requires workers to be adequately trained to use specialized equipment in a training environment before actually having to use it in a hazardous work environment.
The classroom format option, therefore, should be selected for anyone who WILL realistically use any of this equipment on any work site.
