Training Requirements

According to the OSHA Standard, prior to being authorized to enter an area where entry and exit is restricted and controlled because of the presence of one or more of the 13 carcinogens (a "regulated area"), employees are required to receive a training and information program.

This program includes, among a number of other things, the nature of the carcinogenic hazards and the specific nature of the operation involving one of the carcinogens, a review of the OSHA standard, and specific information to aid employees in recognition and evaluation of conditions that may result in release of the carcinogen.

The bottom line in ALL SITUATIONS is that employers are required to ensure that their employees are adequately trained to do their job.
