This ICS-100 Introduction to the Incident Command System training provides students with an introduction to the purpose, structure, function, history, and benefits of the Incident Command System, as well as the relationship between ICS and the National Incident Management System (NIMS).
This course has been approved for 3 Contact Hours (0.3 CEUs) of REHS Continuing Education Credits (Public Health Accreditation #044).
Students who should take this course are those who may be involved in emergency response or event planning, and may be part of a private or public incident response or recovery team.

While these CE units are intended for Registered Environmental Health Specialists (REHS) in California, they are often transferred to other accrediting bodies. This fully narrated course is built for success with interactions, exercises, and quiz questions along the way. Students must answer each quiz question and complete each interaction in order to proceed. Questions and interactions are intended to help prepare students for the final exam.
The Final Exam consists of 25 questions selected at random from a large pool of questions. Students must achieve a score of 75% or better to pass this course. Students who do not pass the exam the first time may retake the exam as many times as necessary in order to pass.
The objectives of this ICS-100 Introduction to the Incident Command System course are to introduce students to the purpose, modular structure, function, and features of the Incident Command System.
This ICS 100 course is an introduction to the Incident Command System for workers who may be involved in incident response or event planning. Additional training may be warranted depending on your level of involvement in incident response.
Positions of authority within the Incident Command System are often delegated to workers based upon experience and training. The level of training required for positions within ICS vary depending on the level of the responder (e.g., defensive response aimed at controlling a release; offensive response aimed at stopping the release) and position within ICS. Not all positions within ICS require hazardous materials response training.

Workers must receive additional training, when required by Federal, State, or local regulations, on the specific hazards of their job. Training Providers should be used to ensure credibility and augment a company’s training program. Therefore, in addition to the training provided by an outside party, a student should receive site-specific training supplied by their employer. This training should target the company’s unique approach to hazard prevention, including the use of site-specific equipment, health and safety policies, and emergency procedures. As a rule, this company-specific training should be well documented.
