What is HAZWOPER?
Simply stated, HAZWOPER stands for HAZardous Waste OPerations and Emergency Response. It is a federal OSHA regulation which regulates people who work at hazardous waste sites; those who work at certain treatment, storage, and disposal facilities (TSDF's); and those who provide emergency responses for hazardous materials incidents. The regulation at the federal level is 29CFR1910 .120 (CFR stands for Code of Federal Regulation). An example of a state regulation would be for California - CCR Title 8, Section 5192(California Code of Regulations) .
