As of June 15, 2021, California has removed the Blueprint and has mostly reopened the State. To this end, all of our classrooms will resume normal operations and student enrollment. We will continue to frequently wipe down our facilities to maintain cleanliness. The wearing of masks is optional for students. We are available for onsite as well as traveling course training.

How This Course Applies

State of California EMTs

This course counts as the required 24 hours of EMS Continuing Education (CE) for current or expired (within the past 2 years) EMTs in California. This course is based upon the EMT Refresher topics as outlined in the National EMS Curriculum.

Also needed is a valid CPR certification and California EMT Skills Testing, which can be provided by any certified EMS-CE instructor in your area.

Other State Certified EMTs

Each State EMS Agency establishes it's own specific EMT certification requirements many of which simply utilize the certification process of the NREMT (see below for how this course applies to NREMTs).

Additionally, local EMS agencies, EMS Providers, and Medical Directors can establish higher standards and requirements. Please contact your EMS Agency for specific recertification requirements. State EMS Agencies Information

Note This course is not accepted for State recertification for Arizona or Nevada EMTs, but DOES APPLY to Arizona and Nevada EMTs looking for NREMT recertification as described below.

National Registry EMTs (NREMTs)

Currently Certified NREMTs

NREMT has recently updated their recertification requirements. Effective immediately, all Nationally Certified EMS personnel due to recertify in 2019, or after, are required to utilize the National Continued Competency Program (NCCP).

We are currently retooling this course in order to assist EMS personnel to meet these program requirements.

Aspiring or Expired NREMTs

This course DOES NOT apply for NREMTs who have an expired certification or who have failed the NREMT exam three times and who must take a refresher course to retest.

About This Course

Following the completion of all training content and achievement of passing scores on all exams, students will need to complete a brief evaluation and confirm his/her identity. After doing so, the student will have access to the course completion certificate.

No Exams

Because this course is being taken as C.E. there are NO EXAMS for this training. However, in lieu of exams, students must describe at least 3 objectives learned from each Module.

Students are required to explain their answer in detail. All answers must be in complete sentences and thoughts. Each learned objective must have at least 75 characters of text, with a maximum of 1000.

California

This Safety Unlimited, Inc. EMS-CE (24 Hours) EMT Refresher Topics course is approved by the state of California (provider #56-0013) and the Ventura County EMS Agency (provider #56-0013), and meets the state requirements for EMT Refresher CE training. This course also applies towards the NREMT requirements as described on the Overview Tab.

Visit the California Emergency Medical Services Authority website and search for Safety Unlimited, Inc. (Formerly EMSTI, Inc.) to verify our accreditation.

Other States

Each state sets its own standard for what is required for EMT Refresher Training and which courses are accepted. This course meets the National EMS Scope of Practice Model, which is the minimum standard for all states.

Please check with your local State EMS Agency to see if this course applies in your state.
